The translator's task is to select each synonym in a way that accurately expresses the original meaning. To do this, a good knowledge of the vocabulary of the language being translated is required. For example, the Russian synonyms "shchastye" and "radost" are translated as "khorsandchilik" and "kuvonch", but their use depends on the context.
