International scientific and practical conference on digital transformation in physics and astronomy opens in Chirchik
On 8 October 2026, Chirchik State Pedagogical University opened the international scientific and practical conference “Digital Transformation in Physics and Astronomy Research: Artificial Intelligence, Modelling and New Paradigms of Education”.
The conference was organised as part of the programme of scientific events approved by Order No. 11 of the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, dated 16 January 2026. It brings together representatives of higher education institutions and research institutes in Uzbekistan, as well as academic and research institutions in South Korea, Kazakhstan, France and Tajikistan.
During the plenary session, international scholars presented papers addressing current issues in physics and astronomy research and education. Professor Jun Young Oh of Dankook University, South Korea, discussed quantum mechanics experiments and environmental education. Abay Tursinbayev, Associate Professor at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University, presented an approach to developing students’ professional competence through interactive technologies in physics teaching. France-based researcher Alexey Sergeyev presented his work on measuring and analysing the time delay between the images of quasar PS J2305+3714 and the redshift of the lensing galaxy. Anvar Bo‘rizoda Mahmud, Director of the Institute of Astrophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, also participated in the conference via Zoom.
Among the speakers from Uzbekistan, Professor Baxodir Eshchanov, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at Chirchik State Pedagogical University, presented the research being conducted at the Centre for the Study of Ultrafast Optical Processes, highlighting its results and prospects. Professor Davron Matrasulov of Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent discussed current advances in quantum science and technology and the scientific challenges ahead.
Otabek Burxonov, Head of the Galactic Astronomy Laboratory at the Astronomical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, delivered a presentation on star clusters and modern large-scale databases. Professor Axat Axmedov of Navoi State University presented a methodology for developing students’ professional competence through the use of artificial intelligence in teaching molecular physics and thermodynamics.
The conference’s sessions feature research discussions in the following areas:
digital transformation in physics and astronomy, current scientific challenges and innovative solutions;
digital technologies and innovative approaches to teaching physics and astronomy;
interdisciplinary integration and STEAM approaches to teaching the exact and natural sciences.
The conference aims to support the exchange of research experience, connect research findings with educational practice and strengthen scientific dialogue between scholars from Uzbekistan and abroad. The section sessions will continue on 9 October.
